Hugh Freeze's Character Portrayed in "The Blind Side"

Former Coach Speaks Out on Controversy

Facts Emerging in Dispute

WEB - Hugh Freeze, the former high school coach of ex-NFL star Michael Oher, has spoken out about the recent controversy surrounding the premise of the Hollywood film "The Blind Side," which portrayed Oher's life story.

Freeze, who is now the head coach of the Auburn Tigers, confirmed that he did have a character based on him in the film. However, he emphasized that certain aspects of the portrayal were inaccurate.

According to Freeze, Oher was a standout athlete at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, Tennessee, where he coached him from 2003 to 2005. Oher played as a left tackle, a key position on the offensive line, and was recognized as a First Team Preseason All-American.

Freeze declined to comment specifically on the allegations made by Oher and his adoptive mother, Leigh Anne Tuohy, that the film misrepresented the events surrounding Oher's recruitment. He stated that he believes the truth will ultimately emerge.
