The 2024 NBA Draft Lottery will take place on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at 3 PM Eastern Time (ET) in Chicago, Illinois.

The lottery will determine the order of the first 14 picks in the 2024 NBA Draft held on June 20, 2024.

Lottery Format and Odds

A total of 14 teams will participate in the lottery, including the three teams with the worst records in the NBA during the 2023-24 season and the 11 teams that failed to make the playoffs.

Each team's odds of winning the lottery are based on their record during the regular season. The team with the worst record has the highest chance of winning the lottery, while the team with the best record among the non-playoff teams has the lowest chance of winning.

The lottery will be conducted in two stages. In the first stage, the 14 teams will be randomly assigned to 14 ping-pong balls.

In the second stage, four balls will be drawn to determine the first four picks in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The team that matches with the first ball drawn will receive the No. 1 overall pick. The team that matches with the second ball drawn will receive the No. 2 pick, and so on.
